Hi all, The Big Guy here. I’m saddened to inform that Mel passed away on 1st of October, 2024 after a nine month long battle with cancer. She also had it back in 2020 and it unfortunately came back with a vengeance. This year has been the toughest in my life, but Mel and I managed to cram in some wonderful times as well before she got too unwell. We finally got married after being together for over 20 years, we had a lovely honeymoon in Texel, We had two trips back to the UK in order to meet family and friends and also a get together with old friends back in the Netherlands where people flew in from places like South Africa, Australia and New Zealand in order to celebrate Mel. The end came quite quickly, once Mel decided it was enough. She was the love of my life and I will forever miss her.
If anyone is interested, I will put up some more pictures of Mel on her adventures and also see if I can find any of her recipes not yet published in the future.
